Have you ever felt that Chemists are not well recognized in Nigeria? Especially when 9 out of 10 admission seekers become desperate to study Medicine rather than Chemistry? Spontaneously, we yell “Chemistry, is the Mother of Medicine”. Sadly not even our own children will choose to believe us on this!

Interestingly, Nigeria is blessed with a breed of wonderful Chemists; eminent research scholars who are the brain behind every Faculty of (Applied) Science in virtually all our Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges! Simply put: “No Chemistry, No Science in Nigeria”. That’s just the truth!

In fact, Chemistry is much more than we practice in Nigeria! Just the way we remain the backbone of Science in Academics, that’s the way our beloved country is in dire need of Chemists to fix the industrial, environmental, agricultural, water and petroleum resources, health…sectors!

Of course, Chemistry is the bedrock of national development. Until Chemists lead entrepreneurial (industrial) course in Nigeria, nothing will work!

The Chemistry that Nigeria needs, right now is to translate Chemical Research for industrial manifestation. I mean Chemistry that solves problems to meet local and world needs! Chemistry that can create more chemical companies and become more relevant in the emerging digital economy hinged on material science to create employment opportunities for young graduate Chemists.

Yes, we can! Together, we can! The highest qualification to drive this desired leadership is EXPERIENCE! EXPERIENCE!! EXPERIENCE!!!
