That was a court ruling in USA on testimonies regarding impeachment proceedings.
Courts are where laws are interpreted and applied. When a president or an institution decides to ignore court rulings, we should all be scared. That means, that institution is above the law.
So many people think that fighting for the rule of law is the same as fighting for Sowore, Dasuki and others illegally detained.
Actually it is fighting for the country. It is saying that we recognise that our constitution is supreme. We do not have to like Zackzaky, we might even hate him and his followers. It would be the same way we would fight for Buhari were he illegally detained.
Anarchy is what happens when no one respects the law. Part of our challenges is that lack of respect for the law.
That is why uniformed men drive against traffic. Why a governor will order the detention of a critic without charge, why thugs will invade a polling booth and disrupt elections, why lecturers think students are part of work benefits. Why a lawmaker will not deliver a constituency project funded. Why a son of a fugitive will pull a gun. Why you can rent a policeman to collect rent.
Why the country is a mess. Why change eludes us. We should always think beyond people in power. Nigeria is not owned by APC, like it was not owned by PDP, or Abacha or Babangida. It belongs to us all.
It is the law as stated in the constitution that binds us all.
No one should be above the law. No institution.
