Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kanayo O Kanayo, has expressed displeasure with what he perceives as a lack of gratitude from people who receive financial favours.

In a video he shared on Instagram on Monday, Kanayo criticised the response of “seen” after receiving money as a sign of ungratefulness.

He said, “I have one question. Why are people very ungrateful?

โ€œYou do somebody a favour by sending him or her money, and the person receives it and sends you a text with โ€˜seen.”

The actor further blamed such a response as “inheritance mentality,” where people expect help as a right, not a courtesy.

“Seen? Come on! You think itโ€™s your right? Thatโ€™s an inheritance mentality; people are like this, and it doesnโ€™t show that you are grateful,” he added.

Kanayo urged people to express gratitude, saying that it encourages the giver to do more.

He said, โ€œLook, gratitude unspoken is ingratitude spoken. Itโ€™s not your right; learn to be grateful for whatever somebody does for you.
